Has anyone ever been to Gales Ferry or Ledyard Connecticut?

I'm thinking about where we lived when my dad was stationed at New London. I use to skate on a pond across the street but when I google earth I can find Vinegar Hill Road and Whalehead Road but I don't see the pond. It looks like someone might have built a house on our ball field.

Other than that it hasn't changed a whole lot... I was just wondering if anyone had been there....

I was thinking some of the people who work for Calvert Cliffs might have been there because it's nuke subs... Only reason my dad was there was medical research tho... so I'm not real surprised another navy wife would respond...:buddies:

We left Gales Ferry in 1962! I did a google earth and nothing has changed... except the ponds I use to ice skate on are not visible.

It was really cool living there... stone fences... following the plow to school... ice skating in the winter and playing softball and riding bikes down Vinegar Hill and gliding all the way to Whalehead.

My grandmother used to live in Ledyard before she moved back to northern Maine (where she is from)...really a nice area. Quiet, peaceful, real friendly neighborhood....nothing to really not like there. I havn't been there in about 6 years now since she moved though.

I don't have anything to do with the Navy though I remember a lot of the base...forgetting the name....

I was really surprised that it hadn't changed too much according to google earth... wonder if my old house is there...

They are very pretty. Foxwoods is bigger than Mohegan Sun. There is always lots going on in both. Concerts, shopping, gambling, eating, dancing. Those are both of the names and they have websites to look them up. They have nice hotels as well:)
