Is it just me, or does it look like Medicare/Medicaid criminals have an international flair? The crimes in the quote are just from February & March of this year. Many of the cases are in the multimillions of dollars. Makes you wonder who they haven't caught yet and how much cash they have recieved so far.

We need to stop importing criminals. It seems that coming from a nation where corrupt practices are the norm, makes it seem business as usual to some people.

This is some big $$$ business, ripping off the government to the tune of billions annually.

The National Heath Care Anti-Fraud Association estimates conservatively that health care fraud costs the nation about $68 billion annually — about 3 percent of the nation's $2.26 trillion in health care spending. Other estimates range as high as 10 percent of annual health care expenditure, or $230 billion.

Babubhai Bhurabhai Rathod of Okemos received 10 years in prison for health care fraud

Venkat Aachi, a South Bay doctor, pleaded guilty to distributing hydrocodone outside the scope of his professional practice and without a legitimate medical need.

Dr. Ramesh Sarvaiya of Voorhees, New Jersey, and Jessie Peters of Lake Worth, Florida, have been charged separately with conspiracy to commit health care fraud.

Ivar Cantu, a former account representative for a toxicology testing company, has been ordered to prison in connection with a scheme to defraud Medicare.

Ademola O. Adebayo, a Florida pharmacist, received 120 months in prison for health care fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering.

Dr. Bassam Awwa and his medical practice will pay $3,382,004 to resolve allegations that he violated the federal and state False Claims Acts.

Shailesh Kothari and Timothy McMenamin have been sentenced for conspiracy to commit health care fraud and aggravated identity theft.

Victoria Renee Guerra, a local pharmacy marketer, entered a guilty plea in connection with her role in a multi-million-dollar illegal kickback conspiracy.

Everardo Villarreal and Delilah Rae Robles have been charged with submitting fraudulent claims for payment to Texas Medicaid

Alexander Ros Lazo, a home health services company owner, and Misleady Ibarra were sentenced to prison for a $8.6 million health care fraud scheme.

David Tsui and Wellcare Consulting have agreed to pay the government $414,108.08 for accepting illegal kickback payments

Yamilet Diaz, a South Florida patient recruiter, has been found guilty for her role in a scheme involving approximately $600,000 in Medicare claims.

Dr. Harcharan Narang and hospital owner, Dayakar Moparty, have been convicted of health care fraud and money laundering.

Mesa Sixto, owner of Nissi Home Health Services, Inc., Llunaisy Acanda, and Ania Hans have been arrested on health care fraud and payment and receipt for kickbacks.

Sheetal Kanar Kumar, M.D., who previously worked in Stuart, Florida, has been convicted of committing repeated acts of health care fraud.

This could be because we import so many medical professionals - and we do that because we can't keep up with
the demand here, in the States. If we could produce as many doctors as we need, we wouldn't need to do this.

And there'd still be crooks.

Just look through the SBA's list of approved small businesses, see how many companies have the same owner/pres/whatever.
