just a few ideas:

an ounce of almonds
an ounce of sharp cheddar cheese
a 1/4 cup of low-fat cottage cheese
a hard-boiled egg
3 slices of deli turkey or ham = 3 ounces
a piece of string cheese
an ounce of beef jerky
3 ounces of tuna fish mixed with low-fat mayo w/ whole wheat crackers

Take in dinner's leftovers, if it was healthy -- pasta with veggies, grilled chicken, etc.

hello all,
You can make a nice cheap pate with lentils, cook some up with some grated carrots. Then puree or grind in a food processor, add some salad dressing and seasoning to taste----some sesame tahini for protein.

It is easy and cheap too, can not go wrong with that combination.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! great snack ideas also!
