What do you use?
For me it has been getting worse.
Tums use to take care of it, not so much anymore.

ER doc told me to get "pepcid Complete" for my daughter as it used to be prescription. Worked very good for her but I am having a hard time finding it. Seems to have been removed from the shelves. Most places have a generic one but the Doc stressed to get the Pepcid - complete, not ac, etc. Hope you feel better

Anyone who has ever put a good days work in has at least a sliding hiatel hernia. Occasionally your stomach is “sliding” through your diaphragm and you are digesting food there and that causes the acid in the chest. Be careful with the proton pump inhibiters like nexium or prilosec because the proton pumps are not the problem and by shutting them off you are risking big trouble because you need the acid for digestion and to kill bacteria that causes food illness. If you carry any extra weight (fat belt) it makes the problem worse because it pushes on the stomach and makes the reflux worse. You can control the sliding hernia with what is known as the “water trick” drink a liter or two of water, inhale through the nose until your lungs are about half full. When half full, pinch your nostrils closed, (this relaxes the diaphram)continuing to attempt to inhale and bounce stiff legged (gently) on your heels about 20 times and repeat. This will pull the stomach back to where it should be below the diaphragm.

Get checked, even if that means assuming the position.....Had an ulcer brought on by eating tons of OTC painkillers for knee pain, maybe 8 or more years ago. Avoided some stuff and took some stuff for maybe a year, got all better, no problems since. Knee pain better than ulcers.

I ended up with ulcers. (OTC pain meds) Pain became so bad it hurt to do anything but lay in the fetal position. I've been on Protonix for a couple years. It helps unless I over indulge in something that is a no-no. Good luck and I hope you feel better.

Had ulcers. They don't feel good. Have gastroreflux. I get a scope in the stomach every three years or so to make sure everything is OK. Just scaring left from the ulcers. Been on Nexium for years and feel great. Haven't had heartburn in a long time. I can eat hot peppers, etc., with no problem.

I would suggest making an appointment with a gastro doc. Find out what the etology of the heartburn is. Could be many things as stated above. Most of the time, ulcers are caused by the epilori bacteria. Once it's treated with long term anitbiotics, the ulcers go away.

Visit is recommended. Hope you feel better

H. Pylori is a pain in the fanny bacteria, and can cause some of the stuff that DW mentioned, and just like you said, the antibiotics work wonders. But sometimes, they make other symptoms worse. Wal-Mart always has Prilosec, and they also have some Generics that might help that you can use before you see the Doctor. As mentioned before, please make an appointment with your Doctor!
