what kind of costs should I expect for a annual check up ??
Sorry. Had him out to check my units last year and don't remember what he charged. It was reasonable or I wouldn't recommend him. He installed my upstairs AC unit about 4 years ago. Haven't had any trouble with it since he installed it. Guess I should call him and have the freon checked.

What is there to check on a heat pump? You will be the first to know if the freons low.
That's what I was thinking. Make sure the coils are clean (hose) and you're good to go. Otherwise it's pretty care free.

Someone sent me some very strange unsigned karma from this thread. I didn't understand it at all. Something about "stay away." Stay away from what, heat pumps?

Just hope it's not the condenser unit. I just had mine replaced at a cost of $1200 on a Rheem Heat Pump. The guy installed within three hours of arriving at my house, so he was prompt. That was about the best price that I could find.

Here's the company information:

Quality Mechanical Services, Inc.

PO Box 567

work: (301) 870-1002

Good luck to you.

Someone in this thread keeps sending me karma saying to stay away from a certain company. Please PM and explain why you keep saying this.

Were they talking about Nance and Son? I thought they only did sheet metal work. They did a very good job for me years ago after another contractor did the actual heat pump install.
