Heavy bag/boxing @ home

Anyone have a heavy bag set up in their garage? My husband and I have recently purchased one to do some boxing workouts at home, and are unsure on how to go about suspending it from the ceiling. We currently have it hanging from a rack, but would like to hang it from the ceiling, maybe from the rafters.

We used to have one hanging from the rafters in the garage in our old house, now it's in the basement of our new house hanging on a support beam. Our bag came with the hardwear or if your didn't you can get it from Dick's.

Get one that has a bungie attached to the bottom of the bag. I cut a 4X4 post to sit over 2 rafters and attached an eyebolt in the center, laid it across 2 rafters, and screwed it in placed. I then hung the bag from the eye bolt. Then, drilled hole for a 5/8" concrete anchor, inserted an eye bolt in it, and attached the bungie to the floor. The bungie allows you to work the bag alone without the need to have someone holding it for you.

Get good gloves. The ones that come with the bags are pretty crappy.
