John 17:1 After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed:
“Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. 2 For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. 3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. 4 I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. 5 And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.
Well, this is short and to the point.I think they are still in the Upper Room, cleaning up from the Last Supper, or they are on their way to the Gardens. Jesus knew Judas would need time to get the attention of the Pharisees. It was after dark on a Thursday evening. They would not be ready for a hearing. The Royal Guard would have to be called in and given orders. That would not take nearly as long as advising Caiaphas. The wheels move slower at night, and a lot of wheels have to move to get Jesus on the Cross before the Sabbath.
Jesus is calling in His Mission Report. Jesus was sent on a Mission. The Mission was to heal, teach, feed, and love until the time He could be put on the Cross for all to see, and die. He has to die because you can't come back to life without leaving.
The Mission is coming to the end. Jesus knows it. Soon He will be Home Again!
According to verse 5 Jesus told us this plan has been in the works since "before the world began".
The Mission is coming to it's perfection.
Leave a light on, He'll be home soon!
