Help! Need new phone...clueless...

Help! Teenage son & I are trekking to the Verizon store tomorrow to get new phones. I am hearing a rumor that Verizon will be discontinuing its "unlimited data" plans as of July 1 so we need to renew our plan tomorrow so it will be grandfathered in for the next two years. I have no clue what kind of phone to get. Would like to be able to access internet or email occasionally but not routinely as I have a laptop for that. Also, do not want to spend an arm and a leg for the phone and the family plan (4 phones). Can anyone make a suggestion for phone and/or plan. I'd still be using my LG flip phone but the dang hinge broke last week.

Computers, I get. Phones leave me clueless...

those data plan increases are for smart phones. I don't think you have to have them for flip phones (feature phones) If you are considering getting a smart phone, I have a droid and am pleased with it. (sometimes they are referred to as 'google phones' since google started that OS Android system. If you are thinking of the smart phones, i would go ahead and get one to get grandfathered in. I think as long as you don't change plans, they can't take unlmited data away, even after 2 years. i've had mine for over a year and love being able to access my email (gmail can be set to forward your other email clients accounts to your phone also) and internet at anytime you might need it is very nice. I'm keeping my plan so if you are considering it, you should get it this week!
