I would think the dog is at the same risk of blockage as any other creature. How much did the dog get hold of?

from what I am told the whole balloon, i think like a 10 or 12 inch balloon. It was blown up and popped and the dog grabbed it when it popped and started running. When people chased to dog to get the balloon, the dog thought it was a game and then evenutally swallowed the balloon. It is a relatively small dog, a yorkie. It just happened about a half hour ago, no changes in the dog at all.

Little dog like that? I would recommend taking it to a vet. Or at least call their vet.

do you think it would be alright to wait until tomorrow vs. the emergency vet

You can probably call Waldorf Emergency. If you wait you might want to take it to bed with you. It don't take much to stop up the intestinal track on a dog. Especially that little. But don't let them freak you out if you call. They will more than likely try to get you in there.

Catt will probably be on later. It's Friday, I'm sure she's on the Island throwing back a few.
PM Krazd_Kat or Softballcrazy. They are nice peeps and will help you if they are online. The more I think about it, KK is working tonight at the bar and not sure if SBC is back from vacation. So I guess that isn't going to help. You could pm them anyway, who knows.

my gf is a surgery tech at a vet and she said you should take it in. If it was bigger like my lab I would wait. a teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide will make it puke though. don't know if that's good or not?

Thats my fear -- calling the emergency vet and them saying oh he needs to come in RIGHT NOW becuse they dont usually like to give advice on the phone, I guess its like a liablity thing, I dont know. The dog is actually my sisters and to be honest she really doesnt like him too much. Her husband is still at work, so thats why I am hoping the dog can wait until tomorrow when her husband can take him to get checked out.

Thanks for the advice -- also can you do me a favor, and remind KK I have the dog pen, and cage for her and if she wants the dog house. I know she is busy, but I just like to try to remind her every now and again because I know things are easy to forget.

I am going to tell my sister to just watch the dog for now. I am heading home, thanks again.

I'll see KK Sunday. I can come get all that next week for her. I need to go over and mow the grass at the Kennels.

Good Luck

A YORKIE!!! A 10 inch latex balloon!!! :jameo:

Okay, I don't think the dog will be alive by morning. I may be mistaken but a beagle we had back in the day needed emergency surgery for that, and beagles are larger than Yorkies by far.

There's no possibility it wouldn't pass through the pups' digestive system, and be pooped out?
