That's a temporary solution only. From FB:
Pepe has spent his life being a guide dog for a young man, helping him to navigate a busy life in Washington, D.C. and now that Pepe has gotten older, he is facing forced retirement. As superbly trained as it is possible to be, Pepe would be an incredible companion for someone for the rest of his life. Although he has had cancer in the past, he is currently in remission, and needs a good home in which to spend the rest of his life, no matter how many or few those days might be. He has served loyally and with every fiber of his great lab heart and now must leave his home so the newly acquired guide dog can begin to do his own work. As many of you know, my guide dog, Pepe, recently retired. A happy and spirited black Labrador, he is loved by all...just check out the wonderful comments on his tribute page:
Pepe's Page.
It is important that my recently acquired new guide dog concentrate on his duties and bonding to me, so unfortunately we are looking for someone to adopt Pepe. It will take a special family or person because Pepe has cancer. However, the one cancerous growth was removed, he remains his usual happy self, and the low cost vitamin treatments seem to be working well. One vet believes Pepe is in an extended period of remission. Pepe is great with people and other dogs.
Anyone who adopts this dog will be rewarded with an energetic and loving companion, as well as the knowledge that they are giving much to that rare breed of dog that has done the same.
