I've always heard them referred to as the Flag men. :shrug: I really don't know if that's the offical name. Good luck.

That's what I thought..flagman at the start/finish line.

And they make people the "Honorary Flagman" at races.

I've googled tons today - I tried NASCAR terminology and got nothing. At least I can bill my computer legal research out to the client!!

Well, those were the terms I used because I knew I'd heard people introduced at races as "Honorary Flagman such and such." I figured if you needed backup, that might suffice.
