Is there an official name/term for the person that waives the checkered flag at the end of a race? I need this info for legal papers that have to be filed today. TIA

I've always heard them referred to as the Flag men. I really don't know if that's the offical name. Good luck.
Would you be more likely to call them “flag waiver” or “flagman”?
flagman
I just googled "honorary flagman nascar"
I've googled tons today - I tried NASCAR terminology and got nothing. At least I can bill my computer legal research out to the client!!
Catt - do you have any trademark people in your law firm? If so, could you inquire from them what they would call the person waiving the flag at the end of the race.
He wants to know ...do you need to see if it's trademarked?
