ok, here is the prob..
When i had my laptop connected to my cable modem, everything was hunky-dorey...
Well now i'm wireless....and now it don't work


anyone have any ideas?

1. Can your Wireless Card see the Router?
2. If one is yes then possibly your wireless router is confused and needs a reboot.
3. If you have connectivity to your router go into the router config in your instructions and see if you can do a reset that way.
4. Possibly your computer is confuse.. You can go to the command prompt and depending on which version windows your running you can do the following.

Win98 - winipconfig /renew
win 2k-xp : ipconfig /renew

Can you be more specific? What kind of WAP do you have? (I'm assuming you have one; if not, there's your problem ) Is your laptop detecting a wireless network at all? Did you turn on WEP/WMA encryption? If so, try turning it off momentarily.

Once you get it working, make sure you secure it. Here are a some tips on how to do that:

Dude, you gotta be more descriptive. When you say "the connection is tits" (I presume you mean 'tits up'), do you mean that your cable connection isn't working? I can't assume that because you are able to get to somd.com that you have some network connectivity on your laptop. You could be using another computer for all I know.

Why don't you start out by describing your setup. I assume you have a cable modem, which is connected to a wireless router. Am I correct? What brand/model is the router? Do you have a computer connected directly (by a cable) to the router?

ok.....my wireless internet connection is good....REALLY GOOD...speed test shows at 1.5meg

I'm wireless on my desktop w/ the same modem/router ...had (sounds like) the same problem. If you call Verizon they will walk you through everything to get the problem fixed.

A common problem is an addressing one - usually the cable modem and the router want to use the same address.

Try removing the power cord from your router for about 30 seconds.. then plug it back in. SHould reset itself, and clear up any problems you are having..

I had to change the channel on my wireless router for it to work.. Would not work on channel 2,3 or 5.. Set the channel to 9, wirless network card picked it up with no problem.. and haven't had a problem since..

Instructions on how to change the channel on your router will be in the instruction manual.. I had to wire into my router to do it, use IE to go to the IP, change the settings, then go back to wireless operation..
