My female cat keeps licking her right side and shes got to the point that she has no hair left in one area. We seem to think she has dry skin but we aren't really sure what the deal is. Is there anything i can put on her to help or anything i can add to her food to help with the dryskin? I have an email into my vet but got no response back and thought I would ask here.

Why not take her to a vet, and see if there is anything medically wrong with her. Does she have fleas could be a hot spot. Did she get next to anything that might have gotten on her and perhaps burnt the skin. How long has this been going on?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My male cat chewed all of his hair off his behind area and keeps cleaning it. I don't know what could have gotten to him but hes completely bald there and he is shedding like crazy. I keep finding clumps of hair everywhere i turn my head. I emailed the vet and will be going by there tomorrow to pick up more food for him and see what she says to try doing for him.

quick update I took pebbles to the vet she said she thinks it could be allergies so she gave her a cortisone shot and if that doesn't work then she thinks it might be behavior issue and we are going to try felaway and if that doesn't work then we are going to test her for an overactive thyroid. Those are the 3 things the vet said and i have to keep an eye on all of her scabs she has from licking herself and chewing herself to death to see if they heal and if new hair starts to come in now that she got the shot. The vet said the shot she gave her will last 4 to 6 weeks in her system.

Stress could be a issue also...
Our gray tabby, Maggie, licked all her hair off back legs and tail.
She was just upset that my son left to go to NC for 6 weeks.
I took her to the vet too. They couldnt find a medical problem.
But when my son came home she stopped and now all her hair
is back. She sleeps on his bed every night!
