This has not been a good week for me with electronics/ computers.
Monday's storm knocked power out and killed the computer that feeds the Calvert scanner. The laptop was old and had been thrown across the room by yours truly and my husband pieced it back to together and it has provided the feed for many years.
Returned to work Tuesday and the point of sale system was completely down. Tech support for almost two hours and the very patient guy figured out what the issue was. There are many computers and "boxes" in the store I had (have) no clue what they are for or what they do. I had to take pictures of equipment to send to him. The guy was wonderful and he got us up and running. It turned out to be a server that is on a high shelf (I had to stand on a desk) to restart it. I have no idea why it shut itself off.
Today, the receipt printer to the main cash register wouldn't print. After checking all wiring, no joy. Traded printer with the other one and it still won't work with our main cash register. Double and triple checked everything. So we had to switch to the other register; which is ok but since we rarely use it, it is backwards and feels weird!
Of course, my husband is on travel and he is the computer genius that installed all of it.
