Gone Crazy
Thread pertains to the rottweiler thread that everyone gave me great advice on. Last night the dog was acting very funny, growling at us barking at us, and got very crazy when either my husband or i held the baby (kind of scared me). He hasn't really been eating that well and that just don't seem right to me. Should this mean that aggression is showing, and we should give him back because of the kids? Please help! Oh and my mother in law said he was barking at her and growling at her yesterday morning.

It sounds like you got Pixie's reject. The dog is either ill or becoming aggressive. Take him to the vets and if there is no physical reason for him to behave this way return him from wherever you got him.
The fact that you are fearful of his actions, should tell you he's not the dog for your family.

I could while away the hours, conferrin' with the flowers
Consultin' with the rain.
And my head I'd be scratchin' while
my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain.
I'd unravel every riddle for any individ'le,
In trouble or in pain.
With the thoughts you'll be thinkin'
you could be another Lincoln
If you only had a brain.
Oh, I could tell you why The ocean's near the shore.
I could think of things I never thunk before.
And then I'd sit, and think some more.
I would not be just a nothin' my head all full of stuffin'
My heart all full of pain.
I would dance and be merry, life would be a ding-a-derry,
If I only had a brain.

He was fine around their kids, and all (they said). When we went to see him he was pretty good. I know that signs like that I need to send him back because the kids are number 1 but, how can he change that quick?
RoseRed he has had all his shots upto date but, good point.

Time out. This is a perfect opportunity for me to do some social research.

Babygurl, what are you thinking? (And I don't mean that vehemently, as in "WHAT ARE YOU THINKING???" - I mean truly, what's running through your head about this situation?)

Give me your pros and cons about this dog. Help me understand why you're unsure about how to handle the situation.

How old is the dog? Have you had him long? (Sorry - I didn't see the other thread where this might have been answered)

I'm no expert, but I'd say take him back as soon as you possibly can.

The best place to get a dog (or cat) is at the Humane Society. You're saving a life and getting a grateful animal.

It's not that Im unsure of anything (I know what I have to do). Its just how can a dog change moods that quickly. The dog is 18 months old we got him sunday from previous people, and he was great with them and their kids.

Maybe we should just delete this thread.....

I knew a family whose Cocker Spaniel suddenly started acting like that. It turned out to be a brain tumor. :frown:

Okay, so this is a non-puppy who is now living in a new environment with strangers.

He was great with their kids because he'd known them all his life - does that sound right?

And he's being aggressive because, well, wouldn't you be if you were suddenly taken from your family and the only home you'd ever known, and plunked down with strange people in a strange place?
