Here’s how Rep. AOC thinks tax breaks Amazon won’t get will be better spent

that is NOT what I read, there was a survay of the 'people' of Queens were all for the Amazon Move

Oh. A survey. Well that settles it!

Do you think a survey captures better what the people of Queens think? Or perhaps their ELECTED REP. ?

Now you are talking about the Queens Gov.

Yes. ??

NO I think Elected Officials act in there OWN Selfish interests once elected rather than in the interests of the constituents

Of course there's lots of that. In fact, that was my point with respect to what Albany and Manhattan foisted upon Queens. This was all politicians lining their pockets and expanding their spheres of influence.

But if you (royal you, not you personally) believe at all in our republic, I feel pretty strongly that you must give deference to the smallest unit of government as possible making these types of decisions. If one is for small government, why "back" the larger unit forcing their will on the smaller unit?

I sort of understand the conundrum in which Trump supporters find themselves. It's a real Sophie's Choice.

If you support the kicking out of Amazon, you're seen as supporting AOC.

If you support Amazon, you're seen as supporting Amazon which is owned by Bezos who also owns the WaPo and who despises Trump and Trump him.

as I said previously my only objection is gov continually offering incentives to business and sports teams ...
They earn 100's of millions or billions each yr, if you want to open a new office or build a new stadium do so

crap should be illegal

New nominee for "Clueless Post of the Month" award. So many things wrong here it's staggering.

You are looking at this all wrong. Amazon is the reason these moms are single and broke. Punish the evil capitalists.

Are you against providing more affordable housing? Anti-abortion types stand on a moral high horse until it comes to providing for the family.

No. Not against it all.

What I am against is the type of programs folks like you support that are the actual reason for prices going up. Like rent control, wage control, high tax rates, etc. It's the "law of unintended consequences" over and over again with you folks. And rather than putting down the shovel to stop making the hole you've dug deeper, Dems/The Left continue to do even more stupid things thinking they are correcting the problem but in fact only making it worse/making the hole deeper.

In this case, NY (both state and city) continue to dig deeper. They tax at some of the highest rates in the country and as a result drive businesses away and then have to offer ridiculous incentives to get businesses to come back/come in. Great job reinforcing failure.

Let the market work. In the main, it works. As such, also against states/cities offering sports teams owners tax breaks (or even worse, real cash).

...Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez declared victory after Amazon announced they wouldn’t be opening a new headquarters in New York....

I finally decided to check out the 14th District that AOC represents b/c she makes it a big deal that she's from The Bronx (so why care about Queens?).

Anyway, talk about a case of gerrymandering! She represents a district whose northern (Bronx) and southern (Queens) sections are connected solely by the Whitestone Bridge!

Just another brick in the wall of politicians, the problems they cause, & the BS/games they play, I guess. If you're from the NY area you realize how stupid (but Dem-profitable) this district's boundaries are. Don't like when either party does it, but I find it strange how we always hear about Republicans doing this sort of chicanery (e.g., recently in NC), but never seem to hear about when it's the Dems....

You know, it's going to be a bit telling to see what happens if it DOES go to Newark - about 5-6 miles away.
Then the folks of New Jersey will see all the benefits of that enemy of socialism, capitalism.

Yes, it's not the governments job to provide any housing. Check the constitution, you won't find a word about it.

Affordable housing is equivalent to building a future slum.
And the not too distant future at that.
I have seen it over and over.
