Six hours to be seen at a hospital? Good grief! Some other hospitals may be longer? Urgent Care? They usually have a NP to see a patient. A NP is not a doctor or a PA. But, I bet they charge your insurance as if you saw a doctor. Some might say it's insurance fraud to charge the full price as if you saw a doctor at an Urgent Care when you never did. But, that's how our medical system is these days.

What causes the back up of over six hours? Lets see, Covid? Flu, RSV or a combination. Take your pick. Look at the Covid numbers for each County. Probably because of the flu which is the worse in ten years, so they say.

On Monday, December 5, 2022, CalvertHealth released the following.

“CalvertHealth is experiencing longer than normal wait times at our Emergency Room. At this time, we are seeing wait times of more than six hours.

We are encouraging patients with non-emergent issues to utilize Urgent Care or their primary care physician whenever possible.

the hospital puts life/death emergencies as priority

chances are is if you can wait 6 hours it's not an actual emergency and you have to wait with the rest of the people who improperly use the hospital as a primary care physician

People should be thankful they can go at anytime and see a doctor, nobody likes waiting but they aren't sitting back there counting beans. They are overworked all the time. Every patient is going to require an half hour of paper work alone regardless of there condition.

Have you ever taken the time to rationally think about this instead of just complaining?

It's because people now think that every little sniffle, cough, sneeze, or hangnail is a symptom of something that is going to kill them and everyone they've ever come in contact with. Used to be people got a cold and went on with life, now they get a cold and think life is going to end if they don't get help NOW!!!
