Myanmar has refused aid from us because they're afraid we're going to invade their country, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity.

So, #1, why do we care? Let 'em friggin' starve and die - that's their decision.

And, #2, isn't this little maneuver by their military leaders a sign that we probably *should* invade and overthrow?

Personally, I'm thrilled to save the money. But you have to wonder about a government who would let millions of people die because they're so paranoid.

from what i understand, they are accepting some aid, just limiting US involvement inside their country.
I dont think this is a reason we should invade, but if you want us to be the Nanny country along with the world police, i guess we can.

But i do agree we shouldn't care, let them figure it out if they dont want our help

:yay:
They could probably do with the population decrease though  Right? Are they in the same situation as China population wise or no? I can be honest in saying that I pretty much ignored the specifics of this cyclone/earthquake news

Either way, like you said, they refuse aid..we shouldn't care, in that, we shouldn't supply it. BUT, again, like you stated, it makes you wonder WHY they don't want us coming over there.

They see what happened in Iraq. We stepped in the "help", we're still there, and the country is not doing any better as a result of us being there. However, refusing aid from non-partisan groups like Red Cross is just stupid.

Our intentions were clear when we went into Iraq - remember Shock and Awe? I don't know as you get any clearer about your intentions than that.

And whether the country is doing better or not depends on who you talk to.

But sadly it is not the government that is starving and dying. It is the innocent citizens and many are children. So if something like that were to happen here(Katrina) for example, and our govt turned away any foreign help would that be fair to us?

They're glad to be rid of all those peasants. As I take it, they want heavy equipment to bury the bodies so the elite won't catch a disease. That's a cruel crowd over there and we shouldn't get mixed up with them.

What now?!
My family is from Thailand and I asked my mother why is Myanmar being so difficult about letting people into their country. She said their afraid people will find out about the drugs grown in their country and how the government has something to do with it. I'm not saying this is fact, but since mom has been there before, she told me it was drug infested and that is how the local people get money. They grow the crap and sell it to the government.

Not saying our intentions weren't clear.. they were. But once we got there and did what we came for, we didn't leave. Like bad house guests.

And yes, depending on who you talk to will give you two very different sides as to how bad or good off the country now is.

In My Opinion
this Myanmar that you speak of.
before I can offer any suggestions or opinion on this matter there are a couple of key questions needed for my informed input.

1) what would the normal skin tone of the citizens of this country be?

2) what religion if any do they practice?

3) what percentage of their population suffers from homosexuality?

4) Do they prefer Japanese cars or American cars.

P.S.
these dont really have any bearing on anything but I thought I would give various people on here another reason to go into attack mode on me.
