The episode of Andy Griffin show, circa 1961, Ellie and the city council.
well, "Ellie" left "Father knows best" and Robert Young's humble home and moved to Mayberry, USA to be a drug store lady, next to funeral parlor. A pre-feminist era woman, she had bigger aspirations, especially following the election of John F. Kennedy.
Not content with selling condoms to Otis, "facial massagers" to the matrons of Mayberry, she decided to run for political office!!!!!
Well, that didnt set well with the menfolk, so they demanded Andy do something!!!! He told the men to withhold the purse strings. That caused Aunt Bea to instruct the women to "withhold", ........ well, you know.
It turned into a town fracas. Men verses women. But in the end, "Ellie" poked a bunch of holes in Andy's trojans and "something happened". After a secret trip to Raleigh, Ellie returned, Andy endorsed Ellie for city council, which opened the door for Floyd to finally "come out of the closet".
