Both that and the gas station need to have left turns from NB 235 restricted with those floppy barrier sticks that first responders can drive over, and the same thing for NB left turns out of both establishments. Wont fix that dam intersection, but it will remove those other crashes for pretty cheap.Yeah, I heard it is ugly.
Took longer than I thought it would.
I mean you can have them, but dont let them send traffic contra flow.I've suggested disallowing businesses to have entrances/exits within 100' of a 4-way intersection. But that will never happen. I avoid them as much as I can.
WaWa at 235/4 comes to mind. It's all 'flow' in the right direction, but still a fuster cluck. Cars coming off 4SB onto 235SB and diving into WaWa while traffic from 4NB turns onto 235SB while traffic exits WaWa onto 235SB. Way too many ways to get clocked.I mean you can have them, but dont let them send traffic contra flow.

The Harris Teeter entrances are much better, one is set back at least 150' from the intersection, and the other entrance/exit from 4 only has to deal with one lane flow in one direction.
I'm a firm believer that the engineers that rely on computer modeling to design these roads/intersections/parking lots shoud be required to actually drive their creations daily during peak hours. Then go back and update their computer models to reflect the real world.
Common denominator: idiot drivers.True, but 235/4 is a whole different ball game than Hermanville/235.
This is really the only place I've seen so many entrances on such a heavy traffic road. I'm a big believer that there should be no entrances on 235, only side roads with traffic lights that then take you there. Corporate drive is a prime example, the foot locker and IHOP did not need their own entrance as they could be accessed via corporate drive.WaWa at 235/4 comes to mind. Most places I've lived have had either frontage roads, or proper 4-way intersections. This is really the only place I've seen so many entrances on such a heavy traffic road. SUV pulled out of DG and headed NB 235. SB 235 vehicle hit the left front of the at-fault SUV. Not a t-bone, thank God.
What's DG?
Thankful I moved from that fuster cluck. We don't have rush hours down here.
Hermanville Road and 235 have always been horrible. A good friend died there. " I " I almost died there!!! I had someone not yield the right of way to me as I was going North on 235. I had a green light. The guy turned left from South bound 235 right in to me. He hit the rear of my Toyota Tacoma. It lifted me up on two tires and made me balance turning an uncontrolled left toward the gas station pumps. Luckily, I didn't panic and turned the wheel enough to counter just as I hit the curb. However, my friend never had a chance. He survived for a few weeks in the hospital and then died. His wife died a year or two later of a broken heart from missing him.True, but 235/4 is a whole different ball game than Hermanville/235.
you can only make a right out of WaWa and Toyota. If you are making a left you be driving south in the NB lanesWell, a lot more flow.
Yep, not allowing left turns out of there would help. Same with the gas station. And WaWa near Navfed, and Navfed, and all these other places where people want these four lane crosses to go the other way.
What happens is they take the immediate right out of Wawa and then head left across three lanes of traffic to hit that turn lane and go down Buck Hewitt. That's the left I mean.you can only make a right out of WaWa and Toyota. If you are making a left you be driving south in the NB lanes
I did that myself a few times when I worked at PAX. And I mean 2-3. I used to piss people behind me off because I would wait until it was safe to do so. Straight shot baby! What happens is they take the immediate right out of Wawa and then head left across three lanes of traffic to hit that turn lane and go down Buck Hewitt. That's the left I mean.
Not my favorite move, that....I did that myself a few times when I worked at PAX. And I mean 2-3. I used to piss people behind me off because I would wait until it was safe to do so. Straight shot baby!
