Acts 12:19 Then Herod went from Judea to Caesarea and stayed there. 20 He had been quarreling with the people of Tyre and Sidon; they now joined together and sought an audience with him. After securing the support of Blastus, a trusted personal servant of the king, they asked for peace, because they depended on the king’s country for their food supply.
21 On the appointed day Herod, wearing his royal robes, sat on his throne and delivered a public address to the people. 22 They shouted, “This is the voice of a god, not of a man.” 23 Immediately, because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died.
24 But the word of God continued to spread and flourish.
25 When Barnabas and Saul had finished their mission, they returned from Jerusalem, taking with them John, also called Mark.
Ewe..... yuck! Herod [the pig] had wormy poop and then he died.

My gross out aside.... I got this from the commentary.

The voice of a god and not of a man! It is in human nature to look for political deliverers and messiahs, and the people of Tyre and Sidon seemed to praise Herod as if he were a god. For his part, Herod enjoyed it, taking the glory unto himself (he did not give glory to God)
He was eaten by worms and died: The manner of Herod’s death was appropriate to his spiritual state; he was corrupted from the inside out. In writing to the Roman world, the ancient Jewish historian Josephus also described the death of Herod in gory detail.
i. “He put on a garment made wholly of silver, and of a contexture truly wonderful, and came into the theatre early in the morning; at which time the silver of his garment, being illuminated by the fresh reflection of the sun’s rays upon it, shone out after a surprising manner, and was so resplendent as to spread a horror over those that looked intently upon him; and presently his flatterers cried out, one from one place, and another from another (though not for his good), that he was a godA severe pain also arose in his belly, and began in a most violent manner… when he had been quite worn out by the pain in his belly for five days, he departed this life.” (Antiquities, XIX.8.2)
You know, when I think of someone or something being consumed by worms.... I think of worms and maggots working on the body from the outside. You know... like what we see on Halloween. But.... That isn't how the worms ate Herod. Herod's worms were on the inside.... think of pin worms, tape worms, hook worms, flat worms, round worms, thorny headed worms, eating him from the inside out.

I guess Herod got a belly full!

Herod [the pig] married his brother's wife and made his stepdaughter perform lewd dances for his friends. Herod [the pig] ordered the murder of John the Baptist. His stepdaughter asked for John's head on a silver platter because John had the nerve to call her mother a whore for laying with Herod [the pig]. Herod [the pig] wanted Jesus to perform "miraculous tricks" for him before being crucified.

Herod [the pig] wanted everyone to worship him.

The people of Tyre and Sidon needed to trade with Herod for food. So, they had to make nice.... make a peace treaty or starve. Herod [the pig] wanted them to worship him. God had other plans for Herod [the pig].

Herod [the pig] got a belly full.
