Hershey Park

The lady and I are heading up to Hershey park in October. I haven't been there in quite some time....and when I did go up there, I would spend the weekend camping with my parents. So I guess we are looking for a hotel near the park. I know there is the Hershey Hotel, but are there any other options that are almost as close?

And since we are only going to the park on Saturday, is there anything else interesting around the area to enjoy on Sunday?

There is a Days Inn in downtown Hershey that is closer than Hershey hotel or the hershey lodge. We went on Memorial weekend and had a great time with the kids. We did the park on Saturday and did the train Museum and steam engine train ride in Straussburg. It was about a 30 min drive or so to get there, the main problem with Sunday is a lot of stuff is closed with it being near Amish country. You can check out the Hershey venues and see if there is anything that is coming into town, maybe.

The Hershey Lodge is a little more lai back and family friendly than the Hotel Hershey, and it's not as expensive.

It's about 5 minutes from the park, with buses running every 15 mins or so - so you don't have to pay to park.

I don't really know what else their is to do around besides the Hershey Park activities... There is the Magic Garden at the Hotel Hershey... And the museum, and Chocolate World. Ask Concierge when you check in, they will give you a list of all the things to do - both inside and outside of the park.

Have fun!

If you liked the campground you could always stay at the cabins there - the shuttle is convenient. If you go the first 2 weekends in October you could drive over to just past Gettysburg there is an Apple Harvest Festival.

Well, boo. Both Hershey sponsored hotels require you to book for two nights, which is out of the question. Days Inn is full.

Someone already mentioned Hummelstown... we had a pleasant stay there before... it's reasonably close to Hershey... you should give that area a try.

BTW, We did Indian Echo Caverns and my kids still talk about it.... Neat cavern...:yay:

The first time we went we stayed in a Comfort Suites in Grantville, PA, but depending on what other activities you wanted to do in the area there are tons of options in Harrisburg or Lancaster.

What a great time! The entire park was rented out to the fiance's work, so there were no lines for anything except Farehnheit (spelling). It was awesome! Rode the Great Bear like 10 times in about a half hour. Snuck our own lunch into the park to prevent the gauging at the park prices and walked home with a 5 pound Hershey bar!

Glad you had a great time.

FWIW, my son went with some friends of ours over Labor Day weekend - if you stay at their hotel or campground you can gain 1 hour early entry into the park and there are no lines so to speak.
