I was watching the Today show this morning, and Matt Lauer was doing an interview with George Bush and Bill Clinton who were out in the Pacific touring tsunami damaged areas. Bush and Clinton were sitting next to one another, answering questions about the relief effort and politics. It was your usual fluff until Lauer went to end the interview. At that point, Bush asked him to stay on for a minute in order to show a picture that a young girl in Thailand had drawn for some grief therapy through art program. The picture depicted the girl's parents being swept out to sea, and Bush was talking about how a picture like that can really bring home the emotional impact of an event like the tsunami.
What was funny was that as soon as Bush started the hearts & flowers, "feel their pain" talk, Clinton very slickly leaned toward Bush and put his hand on top of the picture frame while Bush was talking.
He just couldn't allow Bush to have those few seconds of talking from the heart without getting himself in the picture.
