It is quite the combo. I love it when artists get together like this. I've seen Bela Fleck and Stanley Clarke (with George Duke) in concert several times, but haven't managed to catch Jean-Luc Ponty yet. :ohwell:

Jazz lovers might also be interested in the Capital Jazz Fest coming the first weekend in June. I've gone to most of them and they have a great line-up this year: George Benson, Chaka Khan, Boney James, Lee Ritenour, Brian Culbertson, Mindi Abair, Kenny G, Spyro Gyra (my fav!), and Rick Braun among others. Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10 am.

Question for Jazz Lady: Whatever happened to (I think they were called) Psychedelic Brass? They did some good stuff, as I recall.

Also, I was wondering if you're an Al Santos fan - I love the Sunday Brunch.

Sorry, that doesn't ring a bell. The only thing with 'brass' in the name I can think of is Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass.

:yay: Very big fan. I've talked to him several times at some of the jazz festivals the last few years. He's very friendly and knowledgeable.

Thomas Grooms, another 105.9 DJ, lives in St. Mary's County. He helps put on the Potomac River Jazz Fest held in July at the St. Clement's Island Museum in the 7th district. Click here for more information here.

You're welcome. :smooch: There is never a bad act there and where else can you see so many wonderful artists in one place? I like it better now that they've settle on Merriweather instead of moving it around year to year.

Really like to see Chaka Khan :yay:
Me, too. I remember you saying something about her and Jean-Luc Ponty a while back. I've never seen her in concert. I saw George Benson last year for about the 5th time.

You may be interested in seeing Mindi Abair. She is GORGEOUS and plays a mean sax. Any lady who can play like she does IN HEELS has my respect.

Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass...

I remember a certain album cover, "Whip Cream and other delights"

A beautiful woman on the cover, with whip cream covering her ta-tas!

:lmao: I know EXACTLY which one you are talking about.

That reminds me of a Christmas album my mom has/had and us kids weren't supposed to see. All the lady was wearing was a Christmas ribbon across her "assets." She also had a couple of Redd Foxx albums - he could :cussing: and dole out enough raunch to make you :blushing: . I still prefer Red Skelton :notworthy - I wanted to marry him when I was a kid.

It's a shame his legacy is very seldom recognized.

Heath-Cliff and Gertrude :yay:

:notworthy Clem Kadiddlehopper, Freddy the Freeloader, Sheriff Deadeye... Oh, the memories. *sigh*

He was so genuinely funny and never, ever used foul language. A lot of "comics" today could learn from his example.

What was even better, he laughed at himself.

Reminds me of Carrol Burnet, Harvey Korman, and Tim Conway.

A picture of Mindi from the 2003 America's Jazzfest festival. :yay:
