Nope, that isn't even a dog, is it? Looks more like a bat with it's wings clipped.

Nothing...I have wanted to shave that hair ball for 3 years.. Ken loves him hairry and he keeps him in the ac and has a pool for him so the dog is comfortable. I thinned him out alot today I got about 3 tons of hair off of him...

DW had not heard from you....was your family and your pooch happy with the buzz??
3 tons? He doesn't even weigh 70 pounds.

Can't wait to see him this evening as he always looks great when you've had your way with him (he smiles for a week too  )

Pooch wasn't happy at first, because I was laughing my a$$ off.
She is a lot cooler, less panting.

Appy,

Taz looks great and somewhat smaller. I guess you did get a bag or two of hair off of him. Excellent job as usual. Thanks.

Ken, when Boo got shaved by Appy, I had to tighten his color by one notch. He definitely looks a lot smaller. You have a chow don't you? Bet Taz does look smaller even with a undercoat cleaning.

Boo's hot spots are everywhere (like every year), maybe a dipping wouldn't be the right thing. I'll have to let Appy look at him and let me know. He does this every year. He is an inside dog and doesn't have a lot of fleas, but since we got him shaved, he's gone nuts chewing at his skin. I still have some spray from the vet and the buster collar. Seems there is not much we can do to prevent it though.

:frown:
Yep, he's a Chow, big furry one. I had read that shaving a Chow is bad because of the light skin and getting sunburns. We compensate with a doggy-pool and he's is always in the AC anyway (spoiled little b-stard). Appy has yet to report any fleas nor do we experience them at home so I guess that might be another advantage to keeping the locks normal.

I had a mixed setter-lab a number of years ago (like 35 years) that would get a bad itchy rash on his back and would chew it until it bled. If I recall we were told that he had an alergy to a mold that grew in the yard and we would coat him down several times a year with some bad smelling balm. I'll check with Mom the nbext time I talk with her to see what she remembers of it.

I couldn't imagine three dogs shedding like Taz does. He has really long hair and a thick undercoat.

You can see him in this thread http://forums.somd.com/showthread.php?threadid=27322

AWWWW... what a cutie. I want another one, one of ours was actually a short haired chow, which was mine his name was Bailey, we wound up having to give him away after about 4 or 5 years :bawl: because he was so mean to other people besides us. Him and our other male didn't get along at all either, Our female passed and the my mom still has the other male he is about 12 now.
