You seem fairly knowledgable about these things. I just got this cat, she used to be a show cat so that tells me she must have a pedigree. I know her oringinal name, how do I go about getting a copy of her pedigree??

Pedigree is just the family tree..you are talking CFA papers..only the origional owner can do that..tell me her whole name...does she have a cattery name to tell us who she came from??

All I know is her name is Lucy Bassett, I don't have anything other then that. I may be able to get more info from her original vet's office. Does this mean I'm screwed as far as getting her CFA papers?

That tells you nothing...if it was Maitaiias Lucy Bassett it would tell you I bred her (Maitaiias cattery)....only the CFA registered owner can apply for duplicate....IF she was shown CFA, TICA, ACFA she had to be registered..so whoever owned her needs to apply...BTW what breed is she?? Was she shown as a whole cat or a premier?

Abyssinian, and I don't know how she was shown, I just know she was a show cat. I am going to call Breton Bay Veternary Hospital tomorrow and see if I can find out anything and get her records transferred. She is absolutely gorgeous. I posted pics of her in the thread about the 22,000.00 cat. She has the prettiest green eyes I have ever seen.

She's 9. She doesn't look 9 but thats what I was told. She is so little, but I guess that is normal for the breed.

hehehehe ok, thanks a bunch! I really appreciate it! She is such a sweetie, she loves to be loved, the having claws thing is going to take some getting used to though. All of my others are declawed, she is too old to do that to now, so there's no way I'll risk it. Thanks again!! :huggy: :howdy:

:bawl: Just spoke with the owner. She says that Lucy is at the end of her life. She says Abby's only live for 10 yrs. I am so upset, I am going to have her long enough to get attached, which is already happening, and she's going to die! :bawl: I guess there is no point in finding her papers if she is on her way out. I will just love her and make her happy and comfortable until she does die. Thanks for all your help! :huggy:

I can't believe an owner would say that! Damnnnn :huggy:
I have a friend who has an "Abys"-it is 14 yrs. old!
I believe the owner is incorrect-when well cared for, Abys can live into their twenties. :yay:

Hey Paso, fill me in on the Abby breeder. My mom lost hers recently and she'd love to have another. They are incredibly sweet cats, just full of personality.

Her name was Tonya Bassett, she said Lucy was originally her sisters cat. I have done nothing but hold her since that lady called. I hope Blacksheep is right! I have a vet appt. for her for Monday to get her checked out and to update her shots. I will ask the doc what he thinks. She seems extremely healthy, and she is so loving. I have found out that she absolutely adores those new Goodlife Treats. She  all over herself! :lmao:

Beautifull cat.
Keep her inside, feed her the right food and give her losts of love adn she can live a long time. Mot cats top out at 17-22.
Than you for giving her a home!!
And to keep her sane and mentally healthy, remove the bell...... :howdy:

Hi Happy!!! Yes unfortunately we had to get him declawed as the softclaws lasted all of a few days! He pulled them all off! He is doing excellent, he sleeps on me now at night, which I love! I usually have at least him and another cat on me at night, needless to say I don't move much! :lmao: Each of my cats have their favorite to sleep with. I don't know what we are going to do with Lucy and her claws. She is too old to be declawed and obviously the soft claws are a waste of money. I guess I will have to just make sure I keep her claws clipped. I felt so bad for the girl, she was advertised free three times and no one took her and I think it was because she is old. She is a little underweight but I am feeding her kitten food to remedy that, she has to have soft food because she has hardly any teeth left. But she is a good eater, I have never seen a cat eat this much! I think she was not given enough food where she lived before. My little Magic has become such a LOVEBUG!!! I am so greatful I met him! With all these cats I am happier then a pig in slop! :lmao: :huggy:
