What lie? They were very specifically referencing a program to limit immigration from specific countries. Last year they monitored an entire family of 10 enter from the Cocos Islands, this year there was only a single person. That's 90% reduction sir.
I read a twitter comment, she didn't mention that program when she made the claim. Without it you'd think she meant all immigration.
Would it really matter at this point?

I think this would be adjudicated. Before we had "border enforcement agents", who guarded the border? The Army. The precedent for using the military is already set.
If a work around is needed, you sprinkle some Border Patrol officers in with the soldiers. The officers perform the actual "law enforcement" The military is just the muscle.
