High Fructose Corn Syrup

Sounds like something natural, but it's NOT. It's made from genetically altered corn, and genetically altered bacteria, with very complicated chemical processing. Unlike glucose, which is used by your cells to produce energy, HFCS must be processed by your liver.

It's bad for you, but it's cheap... so the food companies use it.
Even foods & drinks that claim to be healthy have HFCS.

We've been trying to avoid it in our diet, and it is pretty near impossible.
It's in EVERYthing.
When I was in Europe a few years ago I had some bottled soda (Pepsi and Sprite). I loved the taste and I realized it was because they use real (cane) sugar instead of the almost sickly sweet tasting HFCS.
HFCS just doesn't taste as good either.

It seems like they use less carbon dioxide too, well at least in Italy. I liked Coca Cola there much better than the stateside stuff. Also you could find the smaller cans long before they were available in the states.
