Was there anything on the blabber box about someone trying to outrun Johnny Law sat night about 11?

Boy and I got caught up in it when a wall of 3 cruisers chasing a silver import up 235 and onto Mervel Dean. A few seconds after I got the hell out of the way 3 more cruisers flew by each one took another road over to Mervel Dean trying to head them off.

Heard from cop friend of mine that the driver ditched the car on Medley's Lane on Route 247 in Loveville. The helicopter was flying over for about an hour looking for him. Not sure if they caught him or not...

He made it all the way up there with 6 coppers chasing him?

Evidently because when we came by, there were about 10 cop cars sitting at Medley's Lane and saw the helo flying over... Wow, didn't know it started in Hollywood.

I heard it on the scanner. Someone they were looking for with a gun (from an earlier incident) was spotted by the officer, suspect ran and then jumped into that car. Cops pursued and they took off speeding. They called off the chase when they turned onto Mervel Dean road. I didn't pay attention after that, sorry. It didn't have anything to do with Medelys lane incident that I heard.

I saw the 3 chasing the car turn off their lights as they verred over onto Mervel Dean then a few seconds later the came up and blew past me with their lights on and cut across on Clarks Landing and the other roads that cut across from 235 to Mervel Dean trying to head him off.

hell the guy they were chasing came right up next to me, if they had called I could have taken him out for them.

I listened to the whole thing and what I cannot understand is why, if he was identified as the person they were looking for (allegedly had a gun) and the police saw him get into the car, didn't they stop the vehicle before it ever got to Rte. 247. There was never a "chase" until the car turned off of Old 3 Notch in Hollywood onto Rte. 235, yet the police (county and state) followed them from the area of Town Creek. No lights, no sirens; just followed them. At one time I heard a supervisor say to wait until they violated a traffic law before stopping them. The friggin' guy was reported to have a gun!!!

That's just it. The police can't stop someone through word of mouth. They have to break a law and the officer has to observe it. It's just like if you witness someone driving recklessly. If you call the police, and you're the only caller, the officer has to observe the vehicle before they can do anything. He may not have committed any traffic violations until he reached wherever it started.
Now, if he would have shot someone and someone ID'd him, he probably would have waited for a few more officers and then stopped him.

Given the speed they weaved around me they had enough cause for a traffic stop. Besides there were 3 cruisers with lights on following them OJ style and they kept going. It was quite bizarre.
