Hilary Duff said she's proud to be a virgin.

The singer-actress, 18, has been dating 27-year-old Joel Madden of Good Charlotte for two years.

Duff told Elle magazine that people "just assume" she's had sex because her boyfriend is nine years older, but she hasn't.

Duff said virginity is something she likes about herself.

She said it doesn't mean she doesn't think about sex, but when she hears her friends talk about it "it doesn't sound special like you would imagine it to be."
