Hillary' Travels

When I heard about what Hillary said over there to demoralize the troops I couldn't help but think of Jane Fonda heading off to Hanoi.

:frown: There's alredy been ideas thrown around linking "Hanoi Jane" to "Her Shrillness.

As Morris alludes to, one should have a sense of timing and place, in the fact that it's fine for her to visit the troops overseas on taxpayer money.

But the wise thing she should have done, was to spread encouragement to the guys and gals who could be injured or worse at any time in their duty, and keep her trap shut about how she hears back home that many Americans don't support the conflict, and are questioning the administration's strategy in conducting it.

Save it for when you return to the USA.

If you're a military person in country, getting shot at, and you hear this coming from a former First Lady - now Senator, that's got to give you a real warm fuzzy feeling about being there.

Extremely poor judgment, certainly. Our soldiers would have every right to be ticked off. Hillary is so self-obsessed that she probably has no clue how she damaged troop morale.

But comparing Hillary's actions with Hanoi Jane's is a bit of a reach. Criticizing the President during wartime isn't treasonous.

This woman is an idiot. A US Senator that voiced opposition to a war in front of troops fighting this war is a complete moron. A real morale booster isn't she. Yes, I would compare her to Hanoi Jane. :burning:

Hanoi Jane was the first thing I thought of, too. It stuns me that Shrillary is so self-centered and partisan that she'd visit troops in a war zone to bash their Commander-in-Chief. And the fact is that there is only a small percentage of Americans that are against the war, so I don't know where Hillary gets off.

Tonio, I don't think it's much of a stretch at all. The purpose of Jane Fonda's trip to Hanoi was to show the American people that the war was wrong and to provide the North Vietnemese with propoganda they could use to demoralize our troops.... basically the same effects that Hillary's visit had. And it's not about criticizing the president during wartime... it's about making the troops feel like they are fighting a fight that's not worth the effort and dying for no reason. When a soldier starts feeling that way, bad things start to happen.

Now, excuse me for a moment while I throw up :barf: :barf: :barf: , I must now defend Hillary. I didn't read any comments made by her that would rise to the level of bashing the president... or maybe my perception has been scewed by all the trash talk from the candidates and I just am getting numb to it all.

She said "many Americans are questioning Bush's Iraq policy". While that may not be a "bash" of the Prez in the capacity the Dems are capable of, it's still a comment designed to cast doubt about Bush's ability to lead.

A more honest statement would have been, "There are a handful of us leftists that are questioning Bush's Iraq policy - when we're not busy trying to ban SUVs, raise taxes to give to welfare recipients and convince pregnant women to get abortions."
