Historical House

Hello! I found online a B&W photograph of an old creepy looking house somewhere in Lusby, it said it was a HABS photo from the 1900s, somewhere on Solomons Island Road, I've tried looking it up to find more details, and I came across a wikipedia page with a huge list of HABS homes in Lusby, no location though. The particular house I'm looking for looks pretty old, I'm not sure if it's still there, but it'd still be cool to see where it was, anyone know where it's located? I'll post the picture here. Thankss!

If you have some time on your hands you could try historic aerials (https://www.historicaerials.com/viewer) and select the oldest aerial map you can find (likely in the 1950s). There's a better chance that house was still up and looking similar to your photo back then, and you can skip 70 years of new construction cluttering up the images.

Also, there's about 100 offshoots of Solomon's Island Road called "Old Solomon's Island Road". Unfortunately you might need to check them too as they might have been the "new" road 100+ years ago.

Yes, thank you very much. My fiancé's family used to rent a house in Bushwood as a family resort. It was a peninsula, then an island, and now just a sandbar and memories. She'll be very happy to see this site. 😊

It's a pretty cool site, If you do find the property you are interested in but it doesn't look very clear I believe you can buy a higher quality image from the original film (if available).

Library of Congress is the place to go for HABS.

Betcha those kids in the doorway are responsible for busting out those windows.

The picture was taken in 1936.

Goodness. This house must have had a seriously huge fireplace to have firewood the size seen on the porch.
