History Channel; the 9/11 Report...

...anyone catch it last night?

I'm putting it in here because 9/11 is NOT politics, it is an act of war against all of us.

Things that struck me;

Why didn't Bush do away with Bin Laden and co. as job one? I think all the prior attacks add up to more than enough justification.

I was constantly offended by Hamilton and the other guys assertions that we lacked imagination in regards to airliners being used as a weapon. Am I the only person who reads books?

The assertions by Gorelick et al that all of our defenses were defeated makes my want to scream. All of our defenses would be to profile Arabs to the Nth degree. All our defenses would include nuking entire nations in order to get the OBL of the world to quit. WE ARE A FREE NATION. WE ARE BY DEFINITION vulnerable. And I hope we always will be!

In summary, Clinton never did anything about OBL because it was judged that, at each step, what he had done was not bad enough.

That chilled me because what OBL and Co. did do on 9/11 was nowhere near as bad as it could have been!

To wit; if the original plan of some 10 or 15 hijackings had been carried out how much more outraged would we be if;

The White House was gone?
The Capital was gone?
A NFL stadium full of 70,000 people had been hit?
A nuclear reactor had been hit?

My God. They mean to destroy our world but, with the Towers cleaned up and the Pentagon fine and dandy, many of us act as though 9/11 barely even happened!!!

I don't care who wins the Presidency this fall as long as that person understands that destroying any and all that is holy to Muslims MUST be on the table because that is what they intend to do to us. THIS IS WAR.

I think it is rather clear that the ONLY way radical Islam can be truly stopped is by the actions of true Islamics and I see NO sign of that in the report.

Hell...

...I was 1/2 asleep and then couldn't sleep at all!

Everybody knows my politics and I've got to say again, I do not understand why W waited on OBL. Politics? I mean, he's a great leader next to Clinton as far as DOING something and lord knows what Kerry or, God help us, Gore, would have done but damn man, kill them ####ers!

The one part was chilling as well; the Pentagon plane circled DC several times BECAUSE the pilot could NOT find the Whitehouse!!!!!!!!

Fighters were scrambled with orders by Chenney to protect DC including a shoot down AND the fighters were zooming around over the Atlantic.

Everything was all ####ed up as the various agencies tried to sort out the info they had and I understand something like this initiating a cluster#### but we need to stay on issue; they meant to do worse.

One of the tantilizing things is that the towers withstood the planes hitting them and if the insulation had been better they would not have fallen.

Would we then have treated it differently? Lobbed some more cruise missiles?

I dont think our war is with Muslims it is with terrorists..... Not all Muslims support OBL or what he stands for.

...you are right BUT...if US based terrorists hijacked plans and flew them into Muslim Holy sites and killed innocent men, women and children, how long do you suppose it would be before we had the perps rounded up and electrocuted?

I have to assume when you say "perps" you mean the people who organized the act, because the people actually flying into the sites would be dead, people with this mentality (IMO) would never allow themselves to be caught they would end it in a shoot out or kill themesleves. Hope I understood the question......

If by "they" you mean muslims, then they do get up and "say so" we have support from Pakistan and top clerics around the world. The most respected cleric in Iraq wants peace and resolution. They are going beyond "getting up and saying so" they are part of the resolution.
