MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. -- Police near Detroit say the driver of an SUV slammed into a young couple and then drove for a mile with their baby in a stroller still lodged in the grill.
The 1-year-old and her mother survived, but the father was killed.
Police allege that the driver was drunk at the time of the Tuesday evening crash in Clinton Township, Mich.
A witness said he saw "sparks and stuff coming from underneath the Jeep."
Police said the driver stopped about a mile away and freed the mangled stroller with the child still inside. She suffered cuts to her face. Both the child and her mother are in fair condition.
A suspect, Robert Gallas, faces various charges. His bond has been set at $1 million bail.
