HOA Hell

Our neighbor is trying to establish an HOA. He feels he has a moral imperative to tell us all how to keep our homes looking like HE wants them to. He called planning and zoning to check if we had permits to build our deck, and called them to come out and measure the distance from property lines to sheds on everyone on our street. What a PITA this guy is!

I am so very blessed
I'd love to have a HOA for my neighborhood. Most neighbors do a great job of keeping their property beautifully maintained, but there is one house on the corner that begs for some proper attention. Why the owners park on their lawn instead of their driveway mystifies me. Why they still have un-repaired damage on their home from the hurricane two years ago is beyond me. Why they put up a spotlight in their yard, set up a table with chairs, and play cards late at night is just crazy to me. That they have two untagged cars parked in their yard, plus three other running automobiles parked randomly on the grass saddens me. This house is not very old [5 years maybe?], but the owners have no respect for their property, much less their neighbors.

The problem is that the guy pushing for the HOA is an anal retentive jerk. He has told people that have owned property for generations that they need to re side thier house, weed the garden, cut thier grass, etc. The guy spends each and every weekend manicuring his lawn.
Everyone in the area gets along, we have BBQs, birthday parties, get togethers. This guy gets an audience, and all he can do is bad mouth residents who are not in ear shot.
No thanx, I dont need guys like that telling me how to maintain my yard, and where I can put my garbage cans.
