St. Mary's Co. Home Antigen COVID-19 Test Kits Now Available

LEONARDTOWN, MD (December 13, 2021) – The St. Mary’s County Health Department (SMCHD) has partnered with the St. Mary’s County Library to distribute free BinaxNOW Home Antigen COVID-19 test kits to community members, while supplies last. Each kit includes two tests and instructions for managing results. The three county libraries will be a distribution point in order to improve access to rapid testing in the community.

Community members may call to request BinaxNOW Home Antigen test kits via curbside or drive-thru pick up at these St. Mary’s County Library locations:

“With the continuing delta variant surge, emergence of the new omicron variant, and the indoor gatherings of the holiday season we expect COVID-19 spread will increase here locally in the weeks ahead,” said Dr. Meena Brewster, St. Mary’s County Health Officer. “Vaccination and easy access to testing are critical to mitigating this spread and protecting our community. Our health department team is grateful for the partnership with St. Mary’s County Library to get test kits into the hands of our community members – quickly and for free.”

“Thank you to the State of Maryland, our Health Department, and Dr. Brewster and her great team for the opportunity to serve county residents,” said Michael Blackwell, St. Mary’s County Library Director. “We hope the kits will help mitigate the virus spread and ensure a safer holiday and 2022 for all.”

Interesting. Why would she distribute tests without being able to track results to keep case numbers high to keep everyone in a panic? Do these tests have trackers that automatically report positive results to the county website? hmmmm....

While the county is handing out free in-home test kits, be aware that the new College of Southern Maryland mandates do NOT allow home testing if granted a vaccine waiver.

12/13/21 Update: At this time, all of the at-home rapid antigen test kits have been distributed – as our allotment from the state is much less than our community demand. The libraries will receive additional stock next week. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

Yes the test is not 100% accurate but that's with all quick test. Like for strep throat etc doctors do a quick test and wait for lab results.

What's the harm if people can test at home and if positive at least have a good chance of knowing they are. (Trackers really)

Its also sad but it seems a lot of anger on here is directed to Dr. Brewster because she is female why does that matter.

I also remember that COVID test, shots or medical would be covered by the Govt was decided when Trump was president.
