homebuilders

I am trying to get my opinions and advice on homebuilders in the Southern Maryland area. I already have a lot to build on, but I am kind of flustered knowing where to begin looking for builders, particularly good ones within my price range. I need all the help I can get.

Thanks in advance for all of your responses

Truman Wathen at TruHome - 301-997-1058 or 301-373-8111
Don Cropp at Colony Builders - 301-994-2000

I'd call one of those guys if I wanted a Custom Builder. Both can go from the basics up to higher end finished product.

Ripple Brothers.

:yeahthat: I've heard nothing but great things about them. I wish I had used them to build my house instead of the "highly recommended" builder I went with.

Come Play at BigWoodys
We are using D&D Homes out of calvert right now and its been pretty decent so far. My realtor does the project deal management end of it. Greg Cocimano out of Dunkirk has been nothing but great in selling my previous home, Finding me this temp rental and the building of the new home. (He handles all the Details for D&D)

Good luck with your build. We should be in our new house by end of November..

They call me ... Sarcasmo
You did not which county but that really should not matter too much. My new place should be done in the next 30 days and I couldn't be happier with my builder. Ripple Brothers was one of the builders we interviewed, but they were a little out of our budget.

Thanks guys for the quick responses. Its good to hear others opinions especially when it comes to quality and the budget range they fall into. I just turned 24 so that definitely an important factor. And for those who were wondering, the lot is a little under three acres in PG county (accokeek) area. Please keep the replies coming and thanks again!

I am also wondering if any one has any information regarding amish built homes. I know everything else they build is good quality. How would I go about it? Price in comparison to normal home builders? Wait Times? Again thanks!

Quality Built Homes..hooked me up with 3100 sq.ft. for 249K

I recently bought a new single family home. The house is nice, but customer service after closing is not that great. It has been a real big headache getting anything fixed through the warranty. When they do fix something through the warranty, it looks sloppy. It will probably cost me more in money and stress to go to arbitration than to just have it fixed myself. Plus the quality of the work will be better. If I had to do it over again, I will do 2 things differently. I will make sure everything is fixed prior to closing, no matter how small of a problem. I will also get my own realtor versus going through the builder"s realtor. It doesn't cost the buyer anything extra and the buyer will have somebody looking out for your best interest. :yay:

Who built your home? I also agree no matter what always have a Realtor when your buying or building a home. A good one can save you money and headache.

You could always do what the neighborhood off of old crain highway in upper marlboro is doing. Its on the left right after you turn off 301. The houses start in the 900's. You drive in and there are professionally made signs in everyones yards that say "Dont buy from (blank) builder, come ask me why". They are all over the neighbohood while the buiders are throwing up more houses across the street. Apparently really shoddy workmanship and the builder is dragging their feet with making repairs covered in the warrenty. Gotta give the current owners credit for creativity :lmao:

Was this in the last year or so? I've found $100 sq ft as the low end for a simple no-frills rambler to $200 sq ft for a high end custom.
