Working for the weekend
This article is not referring to who was arrested, but the news reported last night is was a group of radical black muslims........http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060623/ts_nm/security_usa_arrests_dc_7
That is the thought I have.........there will be a news conference at 10, I will have to stream CNN here at work. I still think they should be punished to the max of the law, we need to make an example out of these losers to all the other wacko wanna-be's out there.SamSpade said:Which leads me to concur with WMAL's morning DJ's assessment, which I was muttering under my breath until they just said it out loud - these guys are small potatoes. They're nobody. They're not really connected to al-Qaeda, they had no serious "plan" and had no explosives. They're a bunch of big-mouth nitwits that anyone with a pair of binoculars and a tape recorder could have brought down. They were pretty vocal about everything and made very little effort to diguise their intents, ideas and plans. The real al-Qaeda would be too embarassed by them.
*REALLY* disappoints me that this is being touted as some kind of breakthrough. As one of the DJ's commented, these guys are the high school JV team to al-Qaeda's major league.
McVeigh was a nobody too, that is until he did something. I haven't heard it being touted as something big, but it's nice to see that we aren't just looking for foreign terrorists.SamSpade said:Which leads me to concur with WMAL's morning DJ's assessment, which I was muttering under my breath until they just said it out loud - these guys are small potatoes. Exactly. That's why I get so bent about liberals running around going, "They didn't do anything! Americans held without being charged "Ken King said:McVeigh was a nobody too, that is until he did something.

So then should they have been left to their own? From what I have heard so far is that this "cell" was attempting to acquire the ammonium nitrate and thought that they were communicating with an al-Qaeda operative (really an undercover agent) to work out the plan.SamSpade said:Yeah, but McVeigh actually HAD a truck full of ammonium nitrate. And he set it off. These guys didn't have anything.
And they were stupid. Neighbors heard their mutterings about Allah. They posted security guards VISIBLY outside their shelter - a warehouse where they all LIVED. They offered karate classes to neighborhood kids. Terrorist cell, my azz - they were idiot wannabes.
I mean, I *hear* about us busting up REAL threats - supposedly, shortly after 9/11. we intercepted a plot to blow up the Brooklyn Bridge during rush hour - and it was credible - and foiled. I've heard we stop threats like these several times a week, but they don't get coverage because - well, who wants to know about it? And a lot of them are overseas, so no one gives a crap.

The fact that they have been busted should be news. Moreso then some of the crap that is the news nowadays.
As proven in the news everyday.. you don't have to be very "ept" to kill someone, or a lot of someones..SamSpade said:I understand what you're saying - I just think from the other news sources I've read on these guys, they were far too inept to ever pull it off. This was like watching an episode of "Cops".
They might have been too stupid to bring down the Sears Tower, but they could certainly have set off a bomb and killed a few people, anyway.SamSpade said:I understand what you're saying - I just think from the other news sources I've read on these guys, they were far too inept to ever pull it off.

I hear what you're saying about why all the press coverage for these clowns. I can only think :
A. Slow news day
B: It's more exciting than global warming
C: The feds want to make it look like their security programs are working
Probably all of the above.
