Does anyone have any resources for homeschooling in Southern Maryland? Is anyone homeschooling? Are you using any umbrellas? What curriculim are you using and what's the best one? Are the accredited?

Southern Maryland is a nice place to homeschool. Your best resource is this web site http://smhn.parentsr.us which is The Homeschooler's Guide to Southern Maryland.

If you want to have oversight /umbrella supervision instead of the county Board of Ed. you can go here http://www.msde.state.md.us/nonpublic/home_instruction/DisplayLocationsByCounty.asp for the official registered entities.

The best curriculum is the one that fits both your teaching style AND your child's learning style while sufficiently covering the subject. There are MANY curriculum choices available. PM me if you have a question about a specific curriculum and I'll be happy to give you some input.

We home schooled. We used a Christian umbrella. If you use a religious umbrella, you must teach religious classes as part of your curriculum and the state has much less say in your curriculum.

I homeschool under an accredited umbrella. If you are looking for a particular religious affiliation, perhaps you could post that here and get some hits.
Bible Christian? Catholic Christian? Secular? Buddist?
There is alot going on here, considering how small St. Mary's County is, so I think you'll be very happy.
