Hi,
I need advice from anyone who has or knows a horse with allergies. Mine used to have allergies only in spring and now has them in fall as well. It manifests itself by him snatching his head up as if something just stung him on the nose. It is exacerbated by exercise. Cyproheptadine works to control the headsnatching. Now, he has an itch on his lips. When we ride, I have to let him stop every few minutes to itch his lips on his knee. I am saying it's his lips because his knee always ends up green as if saliva has been rubbed on it. I need advice on what med or what else to try to help him with the itch. If corticosteroids are next, what type, what dose? Thanks in advance. Jane.
