Of the 3 Gold goes to Calvert Silver to St Mary's and the Bronze goes to Civista

I'd have to say that sounds about right. My sister works at St. Mary's as a patient advocate and in one more year, a nurse. She likes it there, but I have to say...service ain't the best.

From what I understand it's no different than selling Avon.

Lets hope you don't have an emergency and you are awaiting the wise responses polled on the forum. I think they all equally suck. :lmao:

From what I hear Calvert is the best of the three, but outside of the three choices given... Go to Southern Maryland. I have never had a bad experience at St. Marys or Civista ( I was born at Civista and had two surgereys there and have had family members go to St. Marys without complaint), but I've heard many people say they'd rather risk dieing by being transported to Calvert, Southern Maryland, or Washington Hospital Center rather then going to St. Marys or Civista. Who knows who is right. There must be some sort of reports that you can view to form your own opinion.

:boo: Southern Md.

I agree with Angel. I have never had a bad experience there.

BTW, I have spent close to 8 weeks of my life as a resident of that hospital and spent at least 1 night on each floor.

I've experienced bad with St. Mary's, good with Civista before it became Civista, and only good with Calvert, actually great during an emergency with a elder family member. If the little shait hits the fan, I'm going to Calvert. For the big shait, chopper me out to a real trauma center other than Southern MD.

We've had tons of excellent experiences with St. Mary's ER, my Aunt absolutely Calvert (she live's in PF) and I wouldn't take Starcat to Civista:yay:

When I was with PGFD I took many a patients to Southern Maryland and the doctors where always top notch, but it has been several years since I've been involved with that so I don't know what Doc's are there anymore.

Routinely Derailed
I've been here since 1988 and have had to use St. Mary's and So. MD Hospital Center. I haven't used Civista. My mother has had to use Washington Hospital Center, George Washington Hospital Center, 7th Day Adventist, and Johns-Hopkins. I've had to be with her for all of those hospitalizations because I'm the local family member.

St. Mary's gets my "most improved" grade. In the past year or so, I've seen a significant improvement in service and competence. I now trust them to handle an emergency, whereas in the past I avoided them as much as I could. I have horror stories and good experiences to back up my opinions. I'm now very glad to have that facility so close by. In the past I favored demolition.

Southern MD did okay for both me and my mother.

Washington Hospital Center tried to kill my mother and nearly succeeded - and her cardiologist agrees with that assessment. I recommend avoiding that place like the plague.

GW is a fine hospital with competent staff and good service.

Johns-Hopkins messed my wife up terribly. If it is possible to do so, they made her MS worse. But they did fine with my mother. So we're not comfortable with the idea of using them.

7th Day Adventist was always super. We haven't used them in years because mom's Cardiologist moved to GW, but I can say nothing but good about 7th Day Adventist.

 I totally agree w/ your Civista comment! :huggy: I wouldn't go there if it was the last place on earth. The employees were rude and the care was was horrible.

I've dealt w/ Calvert on a few occasions and have been pleased.

Both my boys were delivered at AAMC in Annapolis and they get all gold stars from me!
