House Hunting...

We are in the process of looking for a new house. Right now I am just researching the neighborhoods. We want to move to St. Mary's county, but I don't want to end up in the wrong neighborhood.

Here are the ones that I am trying to get more information on.

Essex South - Is that the one down by Gate 3, not Cedar Cove, but one of the smaller ones.

Bay Ridge

Westbury

If anyone knows about these places please give me some feedback. If we are going to spend in the upper 200's on a house, I want to make sure it is a in a good area.

But wait, there's more...
Essex South is off Great Mills Road, I believe, and from what I've heard it is NOT a good neighborhood. :ohwell:

I would look for something in Piney Point, Drayden, or Leonardtown. You DON'T want to live in Lexington Park. Move to Ridge.

Sorry about that chief.
Westbury, It depends on which one. Westbury 1 is mainly townhouses and can get loud, westbury 2 is single family homes and quiet (they are in the process of adding 60 more with over 150 on the waiting list). Lots of families with young kids. Has its own pool which isn't bad.

Prices are going up, quick. The bigger ones are going for nearly 300 now. Probably one of the best neighborhoods in the park.

My sister rented a house there a few years back, after about a month she was ready to leave...she signed a 1 year lease.....Not a good neighborhood AT ALL!!!!!

I know people who live in essex south. They live in the back part, the houses look nice and are newer then the ones in front part. None of them complain about living back there. I think no matter where you live you could end up with "ghetto" neighbors.....

My sister lived in the back part of that neighborhood, she woke up to find a stolen car on fire in front of her house. Just because the houses are newer than the ones in the front does not make the neighborhood better.

You car can get stolen from even the nicest "gated" communities....
I didn't say her car was stolen, I said a car that was stolen was left parked in front of her house & set on fire. I don't think it's a neighborhood that I would want my child growing up in is all. If you or your friends want to live there, fine. I was just giving Katie my opinion.
