House of Cards

House of Cards - CNBC.com

If anyone is interested in what led up to the bursting of the housing bubble and the mortgage mess - this is a 2-hour special that originally aired on CNBC last night. Some of their descriptions are a little cartoon-ish, and they take longer than they need to explain things - but, I thought it was a pretty good primer on the whole sub-prime fiasco. That page shows a schedule for when they will re-air it.

I watched it. I thought it was interesting but seemed to fail to lay any blame towards Congress. Most of this pointed to wall street. The guy who lost his house admittedly lied on the application for his income by like 5x. While they interviewed him and we hear his sad story they just go right over this glaring lie that ultimately led to his downfall????

They made the buyers seem stupid and the mortgage brokers and their cousins on wall street look greedy....I think the greed started on the homeowner and other players seized the opportunity....

Looks like five banks closed so far tonight by the FDIC.
