House Remodel - need help

I have an older 1954 home in Ridge, with a flat roof (It pitches some to get the water off), and I need help getting a regular pitched roof installed.

Any sugestions on contractors?

Any one had this kind of job and can say how they would go about it?

Can engineered trusses be used right on top of current roof?

House is 2300sf, with the white plastic stuff on the roof now. Roof Beams are 2 x 10s, and walls appear to be block.

Thanks

I'm sure some of the St. Mary's members will recommend a contractor. Engineered trusses can be used but a contractor may elect to stick build the rafters on site to compensate for the current roof pitch.

A stick build may be the only option as this house slopes inward from both ends. It even has a drain pipe right in the middle to take water off the roof.

Also stick build might even reuse the existing flat roof beams, and may save on wood/time/money. Any thoughts on this approach would be welcome.

how wide is the house, the (old) roof would have no effect on a new roof built with trusses as you would be covering them up.it is usually less expensive to go with pre built trusses as it saves in labor and lumber. if you need more info just drop me a line at jonjon000@yahoo.com

Slopes inward from the ends? That is unusual. It must be a strong roof since we have had some big snows since '54. That odd design might make it easier for the contractor but he is the only one that could decide by seeing it onsite.

Many reasons to add slopped roof, but the biggest it the water falling on the front door area, so don't come by in a rain storm, unless one wants a shower.

House is strong with interior walls of block.
