How common is the Brown Recluse Spider in So Md?

Snakes can give me a jolt...and the majority are wanting to flee instead of strike.
Wolf spiders might surprise me...but I give them a pass.

Black widows...yup,...they get the shoe or glove immediately.
BUT...do we have Brown Recluse in So Md?

Knowing that they can kill you...is really chilling!

Looked at pictures of people who were bitten.. horrible. Just be careful and if suspect one has took a bite out of you get to the hospital. Stay safe.

Knew a guy some years back - here in Southern Maryland - who got bit on the hand by a brown recluse. SERIOUS damage to his hand, but he recovered.

The Brown Recluse will rarely appear in Maryland after they hitch a ride on products or packages from the Midwest or Southwest. But they are not native to Maryland.

There was a guy I knew that got bit on a sensitive part of his anatomy while sitting in a porta potty at Ft. Irwin.

IIRC I think he said it was in his swimming pool skimmer. He reached in to clean it, and it bit his hand.

I remember once fishing out in Poolesville with a buddy and HAD to go really badly - and he told me there was a store nearby that had a bathroom.

We went in and I asked - and they said yeah, it's out back. Yep. Outhouse. Old fashioned wooden one, not plastic.

I had to go SO BAD I just dropped my drawers and went anyway.

And then I looked around - it was like something out of KIngdom of the Spiders. I don't think there was a spare INCH that didn't have a web with a big ol' spider sitting in it. I was so afraid to move, I couldn't even crap for a minute or two. Checked my pants thoroughtly when I left, in case I got a hitchhiker.

My friend was laughing his ass off in the car. "Did you check UNDER the seat? That's where the black widows hang out". Great. Guess what WAS hanging under the seat. If I hadn't been so scared I think I might have killed him.
