If you can right click the icon in the systray, that might be a way to disable it. I would suggest going to get Microsoft Security Essentials instead... d/l it to your desktop (save the download, not just "run") and then go back and at the start button, search for files "mcafee" and delete all! THEN, before you go anywhere online, install the MSE download and run it. it should take care of your AV, Spyware needs and it's free! Mcafee isn't, and it's not that great. JMHO... you asked.
