How does Walmart do Black Friday?

Unless you live in some other state, MD Walmarts have to close by midnight (I think it's state law to not have major stores open pass midnight). Now, go to PA, they are open 24/7...

Not sure how they are going to handle black friday, but the walmart in California is a 24hr store i believe the rest of the year.

It's really only the electronics you have to get there early for. Last year they let people in the store at a certain time and stand in line but they couldnt purchase anything until the sale started. With the economy in the dumps I expect there to be a record number of people shopping that day to get the good deals.

Nope, not true. Last Thanksgiving I sat at the Walmart in Lexington Park from about 9pm thanksgiving night to 5 or 6am when the Wiis were released.

They do have street sweapers and waxers that come through at which point I *believe* they didn't allow more people into the store until the cleaning was complete. But yes, they are open 24/7

I did Black Friday at Walmart about 8 or 9 years ago. Never again.

There was almost a riot getting in the door. It was a good thing that the police were there or someone would have gotten hurt. By the time I got through the crush to get to the department I needed, all of the good stuff was thrown all over the floor and trampled. I only managed to get half of what I was looking for and the selection was awful because people had thrown stuff all over the place.

Two weeks later, on a regular Saturday at Walmart, all of the stuff I couldn't find was available in abundance for the same price as the exclusive, limited time Black Friday sale.

That is how it goes... I go every year and it is chaos!!! People throwing tvs, dvd players, I love it!!! there are always crazy ass people in line it is hilarious.

Most of the toys, clothes, and other items they normally drop those prices to what they were BF but the electronics will not go that low.

I will never understand why anyone goes shopping on Black Friday.

I wouldnt have been able to get my kids the gifts they really wanted if I had not gone last year. I ended up getting a psp w/ 4 games and 2 movies & 2 nintendo ds both w/ 1 game for $400 :yay:

Me too! I have to work at 9am on friday but I'm still gonna get up and go shopping. It's really not that bad. I had to work at 9 last year too and had all my shopping done before I went to work it was great.

Last year I left my house @ 9pm and hit up the outlet mall in Leesburg (it openend at midnight) then hit target bout 3 am and was 12th or so in line :yahoo: The year before that my cousin and I got to Wal-Mart bout midnight and were the 20th in line... however by the time they opened some of the people up front let their family members and friends join them so we got pushed back to 40th or so.... this year I am hoping to get out a little bit earlier so I dont have to deal w/ the cutting crap!

The cops didnt say anything about them cutting? Or were they not there yet? I didnt get to walmart until they had already opened last year. I would have thought the cops would have said something so there werent any fights.

It was before they got there... around 2 am or so I noticed a couple people getting in the front and normally I would say something but a lot of times people alternate and sit in the car to warm up so I let it slide... but the cops normally get there around 3:30 or so and if anyone tries to get up front who wasnt there people normally raise hell.

I have never done the wal mart in california since it is 24 hours is that where you went?

Why would they. There's no law against cutting in line, just a law about beating the crap out of line cutters.

I know in past times they have said something as to prevent fighting. Arent they there to keep the peace? I would not be peaceful if someone cut in line in front of me.
