How expensive are kitchen countertops?

Husband and I want to replace the countertops in our townhouse and have no idea how much this will cost. I am hoping to find a solid surface veneer type that will be cheaper but I still have no idea of the price range. If you have replaced your countertops before I'd like to know how much they were and how big of a space you did, if you don't mind. Thanks!!!

Get measurements on your countertops and take them up to CSB Countertops in Dentsville/Mechanicsville. It's right by Simpson's Store, I think. It's the size of a large garage right out back, nothing fancy.
I don't think there's a phone # and you have to go early, he works from like 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 or something. He does all laminate work, though. He did a nice countertop for me last year. He's generally cheaper than most and he actually does all the countertop work for places like Lowe's and other home builders, etc.

Could be, but not sure about the Charles Street address... could be his home address maybe ... if you go down route 6 to Simpson's Store, you'll see it out back

Do Not.....

go to Lowe's and buy a laminate off the display shelf. They will not do the cutting for you and even cabinet/counter places don't want to deal with it if it has a 1-piece splash guard on the back.

I drove my counter tops around 100 miles and made a 1/2 dozen calls before I had to return them.

When I did work with a counter/cabinet shop in Calvert they had to order out for the work and it arrived later than I wanted it and then cut it the wrong dimensions. I needed 2 hours and a jig saw to trim the back splash to fit (as well as the sink fitting).

Final cost: $380.00...I installed. (plus gas and 20 hours.)
Get it installed & fit by a pro...plan on $1000+

I have no clue, but when we replace the counter-tops in our house it will be Corian or granite.

I am waiting for a quote from them now. I'll let you know how they compare to Dean's and Lowes I already have quotes from them which are very similar in price. As far as Corian goes my price would go from ~2k to 10k, not quite ready to do that yet.
