How long do oysters in the shell in the refrigerator last?

BF bought a bushel on Saturday afternoon that were just taken out of the water that morning. What wasn't eaten was placed in the refrigerator later that same day. It's now five days later and he say let's get them shucked. I'm reading on the internet that they only last two days in the refrigerator. Another article says up to a month.

He wants me to test try them on the assumption that I must have an ironclad stomach, something about my cooking, blah blah blah.

I'm thinking that's not a good idea but....I love oysters so....

There's a lot of watermen type people on this forum, you guys would know. How long do oysters remain edible in the refrigerator?

If they’re tightly closed they’re still good. They have to be alive to hold the shell closed.
