How might this affect PAX and southern MD?

Some of the things that would make sense; Uniform Services University Health System and the Army Reactor Program disappear. Defense Health and Department of Health and Human Services combine. DHS, ATF, DOJ, Federal Protective Service, and Marshals service (how many police agencies are needed?) DOE, Energy Information Administration, Energy Star Program combine.

My sense is that Pax won't be affected negatively. In fact, based on some of the things I'm seeing/hearing on base I wouldn't be surprised if the Pax/Dahlgren complex grows. At a minimum, good real estate locations (especially since the old way of doing business - pack up and move to get away from growing civilian population centers - no longer really works).
Bottom line, no change or bigger.
As far as the article goes, the DoD IC does need fixin'. I think the Joint Base concept will continue to move forward with the elimination/consolidation of common tasks (like base logisitics). Given that the boundary between Land-Sea-Air-Space continues to blur the rationale behind separate, autonomous spheres diminishes.
